Zebra Map Activity

Overview

The students will be able to access Internet sites that have information on the location of the Grevy's Zebra in Africa. Each student will be given a blank map of Africa to locate the Grevy's Zebra habitat and complete the map with a map key, compass rose, title and location of cities.

Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, students will be able to:
· Students will be able to understand and create a map and locate the Grevy's Zebra habitat.
· Students will include a map key, location of cities, compass rose and title on their map.

Materials
Students will have a blank map of Africa. Each student will need crayons, markers, pencil and sequins or stickers.

Activity
1. Students will access the Saint Louis Zoo cites for information on Africa and the Grevy's Zebra. They will take notes on these sites about the location of the Grevy's Zebra, cities and important habitat facts.
2. The teacher will give each student a blank map of Africa, sequins or stickers.
3.Each student will have a pencil, markers, glue and crayons.
4. The students will create a title, compass rose and a map key for their map.
